www.ttnet.co.uk/ - This new free Web hoster offers a whopping 500 megabytes of space for your site, along with CGI access. Your address here will be www.ttnet.co.uk/YourName. No subdirectories are available here, but on the plus side, this service doesn't burden your pages with annoying banner ads. 9/10

MyFamily.com - If you're looking for a Web site for your family, this popular (1.2 million member) free service is the place to go. MyFamily.com offers an easy-to-set-up family Web site package that lets you share family news and photos and it features an online calendar, a chat room and more. Your family Web site here can be private and password-protected. If you sign up now, you'll be eligible for a family trip to Disney World and other prizes.10/10

Channel21.com - A new free Web space provider that offers you 12 megabytes of space for your personal or business Web site. If you're a beginner, there's an easy "point and click" utility for building your Web site. There's also an "Expert Builder" that allows more experienced users to create their own HTML coding. No spamming allowed here. Channel21.com offers some of the best tech support of any free Web hoster.9/10

Cybertown - OK, so you've already got a regular Web site, you say? Well, then, why not try your hand at setting up your own 3D virtual reality home on the Web? Just sign up with Cybertown (it's free to register) and you'll get your own customizable virtual reality home, complete with personal chat, a message board and more goodies. Once you've set up your home here, you can invite your friends over to hang out and chat---all in full 3D! There's always something new and interesting going on at this massive site. 9/10

NAMEzero - We've had a number of visitors ask us if there is a free Web space provider around that offers you your own domain (www.YourName.com). Unfortunately, there's no getting around the InterNIC's fees. But this new ad-supported service, NAMEzero, is now accepting applications for a free service that will offer you your own domain and "personal portal." (International availability).8/10

Delphi - Once known primarily for its free message boards, Delphi is now offering a very basic free Web page service. Delphi's "Personal Home Page Builder," makes this service particularly appealing to new Web authors (although more experienced Webmasters will find the builder much too limiting). The online builder is easy to use; just fill in the forms to create your page. (You must display their banner and you may not display more than four image files at one time on your site). 4/10

Netcolony.com - This is a fast-growing new free Web page provider that offers a generous 35 megabytes of space. One big plus here is that they don't burden your site with annoying pop-up windows (although they do require you to display a banner). There are helpful tutorials here on HTML and site design, as well as information on graphics, site promotion, Java and more. 9/10

Virtual Avenue(No adult or warez sites allowed).7/10

WebJump - WebJump offers a generous 25 megabytes of space. It's easy to get set up at this speedy hoster. WebJump offers a publishing tool that makes it easy to create pages here, even if you're a newbie with no HTML coding experience. Note that you must display their 150-by-60 pixel banner on each page. 9/10

ACMEcity - A new free Web space provider that encourages users to build fan sites for their favorite celebrities, TV shows, music stars, etc. Here, you get 20 megabytes of space, message board, free E-mail and "official artwork and photos" of top celebrities. You may either build your site with their "Homebuilder" utility or you may upload your own content via FTP. ACMEcity is a joint venture between Warner Bros. Online and FortuneCity.com. (Sites here are required to display 468X60 pixel banners).9/10

Angelfire - A major free Web space provider that has 5 million members and is owned by search portal Lycos, Angelfire offers you 5 megabytes of space for your files. Note, however, that if you use up your initial space allotment, you can apply for more (and can receive up to 30 megabytes of space). You may advertise your business here, but you may not have paid advertising banners on your page. Angelfire offers lots of helpful advice for getting you up and running with your own Web site. 5/10

Tripod - The second largest free Web page service (after Yahoo! GeoCities), Tripod also subjects its visitors to annoying pop-up advertising banners, an increasing trend among free space providers. You get 11 megabytes of space for your site at this service, which now has over 4 million members and which is owned by search portal Lycos. Here, you have two options: if you're a beginner, you can use the "Quickpage" option if you want Tripod to write your page's coding. If you know HTML coding, you can do it yourself through the "Custom" option.8/10

Crosswinds Internet Communications - This site offers free ad-free personal Web pages, with "unlimited space," free E-mail and other goodies, like free Majordomo mailing lists. Free Web space for businesses is also available, although for these types of sites, there's a 25-megabyte limit and you must display a banner on your main page, "above the fold." You may upload your page via FTP or with their upload service that you access through your browser. No porn, "warez" (pirated material) or spamming allowed. 6/10

FortuneCity.com - Stake your claim at this major free Web space provider that uses a city theme. Some people will probably find this concept appealing; others are annoyed by it, judging from our feedback. Fortune City.com offers 20 megs of space and they've added subdirectory support, making it easier to manage your files. 8/10

Free Sites Network - These people offer 20 megs of Web space and "unlimited" data transfer. You also get server side includes, nightly backups of data, FTP uploading and 24-hour monitoring. No files over 100 kilobytes allowed and no "warez" (illegal software, cracks, serials) allowed. 5/10

FreeYellow.com - A fast-growing free Web site provider, Free Yellow offers you a hefty 12 megs of space. There are a number of free Web page enhancements available as well: free animated graphics, a free counter, FTP uploading, free E-mail order forms, a free autoresponder and a "WebSite Wizard," to help you build your pages. FreeYellow.com is also CGI capable (as long as you use their scripts). On the downside, the process of signing up for FreeYellow.com's service is time-consuming and cumbersome. 7/10

Yahoo! GeoCities - Now a part of search portal Yahoo's empire, GeoCities is the Web's largest free space provider, with over 3.5 million "Homesteaders." GeoCities offers you 15 megabytes of space. You start out by staking your claim in a GeoCities "neighborhood" that offers pages with similar themes to yours (there are over 40 to select from). You then submit an application and are given a password for use in creating your own personal home page. You may then use GeoCities' file manager utility to create your home page. Or, you may submit your custom home page and graphics files using their "EZ File Upload Utility." 7/10
